Scope of Work



  • Research Middle School Instructional Practices related to heterogeneous class groupings and education for highly capable
  • Identify student and systemic costs and benefits
  • make recommendation to JH Principals and then MSTF
  • No longer identifying stakeholders and determining level of input
G: AMLE book is source for Middle School instructional practices
O: Is AAP off the table? Have we removed AAP from heterogeneous groupings? Will math be removed from consideration, too?
M: AAP kids in magnet schools and HiCap in home schools, shouldn't they receive the same? I'm not ready to take AAP off the table for Heterogeneous classrooms.
J: AAP kids would not do well in a Heterogeneous classroom
O: AAP should be off the table. (T shook his head at this)
G: the will of the group says that AAP is off the table. 

M talks about math
  • reported that ALL of his polled teachers do not like self select.
  • says kids struggle in challenge
  • J asked if there needs to be a pre req
J2 reports on math
  • Says self select is not popular with teachers
  • kids wont' get out of the progression even if they should
  • peer group puts pressure to sign up for challenge
(had to leave to attend board meeting)
