Good
Afternoon SB Directors,
I wanted to
thank you for your gracious and respectful behavior toward all the students who
have testified these last two SB meetings. For many, public speaking is
not easy, and you made their experience a positive one.
I also
wanted to thank you for all of your diligent work, preparing for meetings,
conducting numerous study sessions, and engaging in open discussions. I
continue to be impressed in the operations of this school board.
I am
attaching a copy of my testimony from last night - due to computer issues, the
legend to the two data tables was inadvertently left off. I wanted you
all to have the sources of my data and how I performed the calculations.
I will take
this opportunity to reiterate that, although Option 3 is not the first choice
of Save Our Challenge, it is an acceptable compromise to us. Although it
was our second choice recommendation in our report, it actually was not one of
the ones the MSTF was considering until you, the school board, added it at the
MSTF Academic Subcommittee study session. It was formulated by you during
the discussion toward the end of the study session, and was called "Model
4" at that time. Since it was added by the school board, the full
MSTF voted on it, and half of the MSTF found it to be an acceptable option,
making it their number 2 option, as well as ours.
Thus we
believe Option 3, "designed" by the school board, vetted by the
academic subcommittee, and approved by half of the task force, is a viable
compromise option. It would have the support of the community, and has
the least implementation risk.
I urge you
all to vote for Option 3 on May 24.
Thank you
again for your work for the students of Northshore,
