Hello. My name is Katherine McGuinness and I
support keeping the option of taking Challenge classes. But I'm not here to
talk about myself. I'm here to talk about the children of Northshore's junior
highs who will be dramatically impacted by this decision. These students'
opinions have been ignored , when their input could be the most valuable. Many
students don't even know that this issue is happening.
To further prove my
point, at the last meeting we listened to all of the teachers speak, but when
it was our turn to talk, the teachers left. They were gone. I feel that
the students in this district have a right to know what's going on in their
schools, and be able to speak their mind about it.
We believe that Challenge/Honors classes are critical for all kids who choose a more rigorous educational path, and we also believe that children should be able to choose NOT to take Challenge classes if that is not the right path for them. Join us in our mission to Save the Self-Select Challenge Program.
